Referrals to HSE services are accepted from GPs, hospitals and all members of the Primary Care Team and networks. You can also self refer.
How much do the services cost?
HSE services are free, but you may have to pay for any equipment you require, depending on whether you have a medical card or not. GP services are free with a medical card or GP visit card (other patients must pay a consultation fee).
The HSE team are located in McGreals Primary Care Centre.
The following are the list of services that we offer to the public.
General Practitioners
GPs provide services on behalf of the HSE, to people with Medical Cards, GP Visit Cards and other schemes. Our GPs also provideimmunisation services free to patients on behalf of the HSE, and through theMother and Infant Care Scheme, some visits during pregnancy are also paid for by the HSE. Most people who don’t have a Medical Card or GP Visit Card will pay a fee for a GP visit.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy is a method of treatment to assist people with physical, psychological and social problems. The Occupational Therapist focuses on the effects of temporary or permanent illness or disability, on the person’s everyday living and facilitates the return to be as independent as possible.
Occuaptional therapy provides a number of individual and group treatment sessions to children, adults and older persons. Such sessions include: housing adaptations, upper limb rehabilitation, fatigue management, fall prevention and home based programs.
We accept self–referral and referrals from GPs, PHN and all health professionals.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy, often referred to as physio, uses physical methods, such as massage and manipulation, to promote healing and wellbeing. Physiotherapy treatments are often used to help restore a person’s range of movement after injury or illness.
In Mcgreals Primary Care Centre the physiotherapist may invite you to a pre-treatment assessment screening clinic and/or see you in the physiotherapy department, individually or as part of a group or class. In some instances we may see people in the home situation or another setting. You may also meet us in our role of providing support and advice to families; carers; or other health professionals on the management of many conditions and in the broader community promoting an active and healthy lifestyle for all.
To assess the physiotherapy service you need a referral from your GP or other health professional.
Dental Services
HSE Dental Clinics, who provide services for children of school-going age. This service is accessed through screening appointments in your child’s primary school. Adults (over 16 years of age) who have a valid medical card can access a range of dental services and treatments under the Dental Treatment Service Scheme. Public Health Nurses
The public health nurse provides a range services free of charge to people in your community. The Public Health Nursing Serviceincorporates Public Health Nurses, Community Staff Nurses, Public Health Nurse assigned to the School Health Service, Assistant Director Public Health Nursing, Home and Administrative staff. The Public Health Nursing Service provides the following services:

Immunisation Clinics
Wound Clinics
Continence Assessment
Family Meetings to facilitate care planning for individual family member.
Home Care Services
Home Care services are provided in order to assist people to remain in their own home and to avoid going in to long-term care. In practice, the Health Service Executive (HSE) either provides the home help service directly or make arrangements with voluntary organisations to provide them.
Assessment for Home Care Services is carried out by the Public Health Nurses.
Wound Management Clinic
The clinic is run by nursing wound specialists.
